It is not unusual when you ask a youngster what they want to do when they grow up that he will tell you that he would like to be a fighter pilot. These same youngsters, however, once reaching adulthood most often do not follow their passion as a child. It’s not because they have given up their dream of becoming a fighter pilot it’s the fact that they haven’t known exactly which way to pursue it.

There are some basic steps that one would have to take to become a fighter pilot, but it is certainly something that is achievable and even a young adult can still go about fulfilling their dream.

Step one The very first the decision that would have to be made of course is to what sort of armed forces an individual is prone to wanting to go into. The requirement of becoming an officer is part of becoming a pilot fighter and that this means a choice of the Navy or the Marines.

They are both totally different atmospheres and the decision really should be based on what one seems to think they would enjoy more.

Step two There is also medical health to consider as well to become a pilot. One has to be in good health and there are certain physical requirements as well as to be able to claim good eyesight.

Step three Then the decision will have to be made as to the type of aviation one would really be interested in. The thought has to be made in the beginning about the final decision, although it will come at the conclusion of the training.

Step four This is where you now have to learn how to become a pilot before you even become a fighter pilot. You can expect to be low man on the totem pole until you have been able to complete your course to the point where you have received your pilot wings. Be prepared for some hard work because there are two segments of your course.

There is the textbook study which will be your academics and then there is your “hands on” experience to be gained. Your flight teacher will be scrutinizing everything you do through the entirety of your course.

Step five This is where your training will continue. Now here you will be really challenged as you will be exposed to wilderness survival. Here you will have to show that you are able to survive in adverse conditions such as being stranded in any dense forests with nothing to eat or drink. You will have to prove you’re able to pull yourself through this second part of your training. In this area, you will be using the type of plane that you most want to continue with once you have graduated.

Once you have successfully gone through each of the steps, which has only been an outline in the basics, although are quite extensive upon successful completion you will be able to claim the title of being an initial fighter pilot.

As you can see it is not an easy task, but it is not one that cannot be achieved if this is really what you want to go for.

United Kingdom to Marseille

Marseille is one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in France. There are flights from the UK to Marseille from both London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports. Marseille Provence Airport is the city’s main airport and is the fourth largest airport in France. Expect to see both tourists and business travelers crowding its terminals. The city also has an excellent public transportation system.

It is located on the south east coast of France on the Mediterranean Sea and is the largest commercial port in the country. The old port area that was popular prior to the’70s oil crisis has been redeveloped with an investment from the European Union.

The old port area is now home to restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels and other businesses and is primarily used as a private marina. The new port area is north of the old port area, and 100 million tons of freight pass through this port each year. The majority of the freight is petroleum. The city is a major center for trade and industry with excellent transportation infrastructure, including its port, airport and roads. It is one of the main entry points into France, making it popular with immigrants, especially those from Italy, Spain and Greece.

With its location on the Mediterranean Sea, Marseille has mild winters and hot summers. The coldest months of the year are January and February, with July and August being the area?s hottest months. Harsh, cold winds blow into the city from the Alps in the winter and spring.

The city also boasts Marseille Provence Metropolis, the second largest research center in France. The research center employs thousands of scientists.

But besides all the industry, UK travelers will find no shortage of museums, theaters, shops, bars, cafes, and restaurants in Marseille. Lovers of theater will be especially pleased by the wonderful repertoires of le Gymnase, the Teatre Toursky, and la Crie?. The opera season runs from September until June.

Like every other region of France, but perhaps a little more so, Provence is known for its incredible food. Local favorites include pastis, a popular liqueur made with anise and spice, once made with the now-banned absinthe. Other local favorites are aioli (mayonnaise) served over hard boiled eggs or fish, tapenades over grilled meats, panisse, navette, and the flavorful boiling bouillabaisse. Restaurants make all their dishes with local ingredients chosen because they are intensely flavorful. Many of these establishments can be found in the previously mentioned Old Port area, also the site of a fish market. The Old Port area is beautiful after sundown, and a wonderful destination for a romantic evening, but entirely safe for UK visitors.

Beautiful architecture can also be found in the city, including the Abbey of Saint Victor, one of the oldest places of Christian worship in France, the Museum of Old Marseille and the Phare de Sainte Marie, a lighthouse on the inlet to the Old Port.

With all that the city has to offer to visitors, it is easy to see why Marseille is growing in popularity with travelers.

Discover How Prevent Motion Sickness – Pilot Training

November 30, 2009 by Bruce Hogan

When you first begin your flying endeavors you may find yourself, feeling nauseated to the point of actually being sick. You probably will put this down to being beginner?s jitters or nervousness. It very well could be but may very well be motion sickness. It is a very common occurrence and you have most often heard the term carsick. This is where every time an individual travels in a car they feel sick to their stomach. It comes in varying degrees and is not just restricted to automobiles. It can be caused from any type of motion most often associated with travel. Perhaps by car, plane or sea an attack of this can strike. It really is not a disease or a virus, it is simply our movement perception becomes mixed up. The inner ear consists of semi circular canals that contain fluid. In motion, this fluid is mixed up and cannot discern between major movement and just a slight movement.

If you are wondering just how appropriate it is to use the word nausea, in Greek it means seasickness. Good indication it has been around a long time. Most often unfortunately, the nausea does not subside on its own. Most often, the sufferer will end up being sick to their stomach. In addition, that is not the end of it; the problem can last during the entire trip. It is easy to see how this would be of grave concern if its occurs during your flying lessons for example.

Manufactured Meds The key is to find something that will work to relieve your motion sickness without making your lethargic. There are various medications that you can buy over the counter to help counteract this. You would simply take them an hour or so before your flight. Again though some of them have the reputation of making you drowsy and you of course must be alert. You must also be aware that CAA may not approve and if they were to find out your were taking medications (with possible drowsiness side effects) you could have your license suspended or even lose it.

Alternative Methods There has been a lot of talk about success with the acupressure wristbands. These are structured so they apply pressure to the Ne Kuan pressure points found in each wrist. The wristband consists of knitted cotton with a plastic stud attached to apply the pressure. There is quite a bit of documentation by way of medical records indicating that this method is quite successful as anti-nausea.

Here are some other tried and true methods you may want to partake in, if you are not finding any solutions.

1. Avoid sudden movements by trying to keep your mode of travel smooth. Also, try to avoid any type of reading. Turbulence is certainly going to be unpleasant.

2. As strange as it may sound attempt to eat a decent meal two hour before flying. It works for some but not for others, it is a try and sees type of treatment. In any event do not over eat. Eat light and sensibly. 3. Try and get as much fresh air as possible.

4. Ginger has long been known for its anti nausea effects. It is often a natural remedy use for morning sickness in expectant women. There are many variations of ginger available and you could try them all to see which works best for you. It is also available in pill form as well, although the natural is purported as being the best. Simply make yourself some ginger tea from fresh ginger root.

5. Do yourself a big favor and abstain from alcohol the night before. A hang over is bad enough, but you don?t want to experience a hang over with motion sickness while you are piloting a plane.

6. looking straight ahead at the horizon may help but as the pilot, you are not able to do this.

Finally, no matter what method you choose, always carry a sick bag with you for those unpreventable moments.

Discover How To Make Use Of Your Private Pilot License

How often in life, do we have some secret dreams of things we would like to do but we always seem to put them aside? It would be a common occurrence if one were to believe the seniors that often reminisce about the things they wish they had done.

If you have a dream of becoming a Pilot then don’t put yourself in one of these Senior’s shoes regarding the wish I had done that? scenario. Make up your mind you are going to pursue your desire. At least research it and find out what it will take to make your dream come true. Doing this means, you have taken your first step toward making it a reality.

Sometimes when we want something so badly we just won’t believe it could happen so we find all kinds of excuses to make that the truth. Becoming a Pilot fits well into this category. It’s too time consuming, too much education is needed, I’m too old, or its too expensive are just some of the arguments we support our feelings with for something that we think is unattainable.

In regards to becoming, a Private Pilot lets look at some of the arguments that we just outlined.

It is too time consuming. You will be surprised to learn that it does not take years to learn to become a Private Pilot. It actually demands 40 hours of flying time, and a theory course. If you can afford to set aside time for one or two lessons a week, then it would put you right on schedule for completing the course in the average amount of time. You do not have to attend school 5 days a week. You can consider night courses at least for the theory aspect and weekends for your flying.

Too much education is required. This too is another misconception. As long as you can read, write and understand English well and you are of the age of 17 years of age or older, then you have the basic requirements. What you are going to be learning is not dependant on other academic certificates you hold from your regular education. The success of the course is dependant totally, on what you are going to be learning and studying.

I’m too old. That’s one unique thing about becoming a Private Pilot. You are never too old. If you can pass the required aviation medical examination then you are considered just as fit as that 17 year old Pilot in training you may be sitting beside.

It’s too expensive It certainly is not going to be a cheap endeavor. Then you have to consider how much is your dream worth to you. It’s no more expensive than any of the other types of recreation that we partake in. The actual training costs will be your biggest expense. If you think about it, though perhaps if you put off buying that brand new car for a year you would be able to find the money you need to pay for your training. Think about which is going to bring you more pleasure? Driving that new sports car or flying in the sky?

So now the only thing left for you to do, is go out and find the best flight training schools in your area, with the best instructors, and the best price and you will be on your way to flying high!

Finally, the fastest and easiest way to get your pilot license with 2 hours of intensive helicopter pilot school video training and 2000 pages of flight manuals.

Charter Flights Made Easy

July 8, 2009 by Sam Jeffresson

Are you familiar with the old saying that you can always make a little extra money but are unable to make more time? This is true for many people as the essence of their life is time and they cannot do what is needed to make more of it. As such, they will spend a great deal of money with the goal of acquiring their time back! This is why so many people will look towards chartered flights as they can definitely save time.

Some may have an inaccurate conception of chartered planes as they will think of a small plane that only provide a safe ride and a decent bird’s eye view out of the window. This is not entirely accurate as there is much more to the totality of chartered planes than just a simple concept. And, yes, more and more people realize chartering a plane is not just a new way of enjoying their luxury. It is also a great way a person can properly manage and maximize her/her time.

One important aspect that you can take a look at when it comes to chartered flights is that you are going to be able to go almost anywhere in the world and you’ll be able to do it when you need to do it. For instance, if you have a million dollar deal coming up, you will find that securing it might mean that you have to be across the county in a matter of hours. When you have a chartered plane, that’s easy!

There are many benefits to booking a chartered plane over a commercial flight. When you book a commercial flight, you will be limited to the procedures of the airline. That means you must check in your luggage, follow all rules associated with luggage, and, worst of all, you will be locked into the time elements set forth by the airline. In other words, you can’t pick when the flight leaves and with such a lengthy check in process, you may have to arrive at the airport several hours early. With a chartered flight, all of this aggravation can be completely avoided.

Another thing that you will notice is that the major airlines, no matter how good they are, will seldom be able to accommodate your needs with one flight. Instead you are going to be cooling your heels over a number of different layovers. With a chartered flight, you can avoid a lot of that, especially if you are traveling domestically.

Then, there are issues with the number of airports that will receive commercial airline flights. There are roughly 500 airports that commercial flights will fly into. With commercial flights, there are upwards of 14,000 airports that one can receive chartered flights.

Additionally, there are a number of cumbersome regulations that are totally avoided when engaging in a chartered flight. And, best of all, these chartered flights do not sacrifice safety even in the absence of such regulations.

That is why it is recommended to sit back and consider available options when it comes to booking chartered flights. This will yield the results you are looking for.

Flight 447 Plane Crash Has Unanswered Questions!

June 18, 2009 by Travis Ristig

Many people are wondering what happened in the Flight 447 plane crash. In fact, the possibility that the actual cause of the crash will be found is decreasing each day. However, as the pieces come together and more pieces of the puzzle are found, there are some definite theories on what may have happened to this Air France plane.

At first there were questions about whether the Flight 447 plane crash occurred by exploding in the air or whether the jet smashed into the ocean below. The Brazilian Navy did find the tail of the jet, which makes it more likely that the jet did blow apart while it was in the air. According to experts, the tail would probably not stay in tact had the plane actually hit the ocean.

Storm winds were fierce over the ocean when Flight 447 was in flight, and many wonder why the plane was allowed to fly to begin with, in such inclement weather. A mere four minutes before the plane crashed, the autopilot was switched off. This makes it entirely plausible that the pilots were attempting plane navigation themselves when the storm was raging.

Because the storm was so fierce and because the winds were so strong, it was very difficult to fly the plane through this type of weather. It’s been theorized that the pilots were attempting to fly through the storm and made the mistake of overcompensating, thus simply tearing the plane’s tail off.

Since the crash has occurred and since the first plane pieces have been found, of the 228 people on board, 41 have been found in the Atlantic. The plane is being found in bits and pieces, but no one has yet found voice recorders or the “black box” that may be able to tell just why Flight 447 crashed to begin with.

Investigators also question the quality of the plane’s maintenance and repairs as well. The Pitot tube was supposed to be totally replaced, and no one knows whether this particular part had difficulties or was responsible because of malfunction for the crash occurring.

Many plane crash causes remain a mystery, even when those plane crashes have had video taken of them as they occurred. And of course, when the wreckage remains on the bottom of the ocean, the mystery deepens. Family and friends wonder if the truth of this crash’s cause will ever be entirely understood or known.

To help with the search for the black boxes, a French nuclear submarine has joined forces with other searchers. Because the floor of the ocean is so rugged, finding the boxes can be difficult at best. The sub is using sonar technology to pick up the boxes’ acoustic beacons, which will begin to fade in about three weeks. The United States is also helping with this effort by supplying underwater audio devices to help pick up those signals.

There are many different theories still out there on why the Flight 447 plane crash happened. So far evidence has not fully shown which of these theories may be correct. Investigators are continuing to work, hoping to find out what happened to this plane to cause a crash that resulted in so many deaths.

UK to Naples

April 8, 2009 by Tom Martens

UK travelers wanting to visit Naples as their primary destination should try booking flights from London, which offers the best availability and lowest fares. The city’s only airport receiving international travelers is Naples International Airport. Located in the south of Italy, and the capital of Campania, Naples lies halfway between the volcano Vesuvius, which buried the ancient city of Pompeii, and the Phlegraean Fields. Naples is an ancient city, over 2,800 years old. It enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate with long, hot, dry summers and short, mild, rainy winters.

Naples is famous for its music. It was the place where the mandolin and the romantic guitar were both invented. Neapolitan musicians also have made strong contributions to folk standards and to opera.

This southern Italian city is home to many museums, notably the Naples National Archaeological Museum, regarded as one of the most important repositories for artifacts of the Roman Empire. The museum displays many of the antiquities discovered at Herculaneum and Pompeii, as well as some pieces from the Hellenistic period and the Renaissance.

Probably the most important museum in Naples, however, is the Museo di Capodimonte, a museum and art gallery. The gallery features paintings from the thirteen to eighteenth centuries, including major works of Luca Giordano, and Jusepe de Ribera of the Neapolitan School, and also works by El Greco, Caravaggio, Titian, Raphael, and Simone Martini.

The majority of Neapolitans are Catholics, and their city is home to the Archdiocese of Naples. The Cathedral of Naples is the site of the annual Miracle of St. Januarius, the city’s patron saint. In this miracle, the dried blood of Januarius is said to turn to liquid when brought close to his relics. The annual miracle is regarded as sacred by many Neapolitans.

But the one thing almost every for around the world knows that originated in Naples is pizza. The procedure for making pizzas is strictly regulated by Italian law. The pizza is traditionally baked in a wood-burning oven. The ingredients in the dough must be type “00″ flour with the addition of type “0″ yeast and natural water. The sauce is to be made from peeled tomatoes or fresh cherry tomatoes, along with sea salt and extra virgin olive oil. Another world-renowned Neapolitan dish is spaghetti. Neapolitans eat their spaghetti with a ragu. The cuisine of Naples, like all of Italy, is known for its use of local fresh ingredients. The city is also famous for its gelato dessert, and for limoncello, a popular lemon liqueur.

The history of Naples goes back at least 2,800 years, and the city is even older than Rome. It has survived the Etruscans, the Greeks, the Romans, and the Plague, and a succession of kings from Spain and France. As it has survived, it has changed and thrived. If you are already planning a visit to Italy, visit Naples, too. The city has much to offer, especially its fine food and wine, and visitors will be more than just happy they made it a stop.
