Olando Vacation Resorts to Discover

December 2, 2009   Filed under Travel

As an Orlando vacation resorts devotee, I can recommend all of the theme parks, but did you know the area is brimming with other excellent visitor attractions without a roller coaster in sight. Orlando is also full of lakes, parks, exhibitions, historical places, markets, shops and much more. Whilst many people that visit are first timers, more are returning for their second, third or more time as there is always something new to see.

If you enjoy shopping then you will love Orlando. It has plenty of malls and stores like Outdoor World which is so large it contains a 17,000 gallon aquarium and you could spend all day there. The city has its own charming identity and attractions but the majority of people taking a vacation in Orlando arrive here in order to visit possibly the happiest place on earth.

Central Florida Zoological Park is one of the major reasons to visit as the zoo is home to more than 400 animals that started out as just a collection in the Sanford Fire Department. It is actually a privately owned charitable group dedicated to the protection of exotic animals plus species that are native to Florida but also offers informative and child-friendly classes and events.

Back in’42, the Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park started exhibiting the world’s most extensive collection of the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany. The collection is the most comprehensive anywhere with Tiffany jewelry, art glass, ornaments, pottery, paintings and leaded glass.

Whilst it may seem that Orlando has been created for the entertainment of children that could not be further from the truth as there is plenty here for everyone. The choice of evening entertainment for vacations in Orlando at Orlando vacation resorts and elsewhere is as diverse as the range of activities available during daylight hours with themed shows to Disney’s Pleasure Island or City walk at Universal.

If you are more technology and science minded then a trip to the Orlando Science Center will be a must as is a huge complex incorporating 10 halls with exhibitions everything from the Florida Everglades to the plains of Mars. An alternative to this would be the International Trolley and Train Museum which can be found along International Drive and has one of the country’s largest operating indoor G gauge layouts in a space of over four thousand square feet.

The Titanic – Ship of Dreams Exhibition can also be found along International Drive; this is a moving, often eerie depiction of the great Ocean Liner with a tour guide depicting a character from the ship with many original items on display. A quieter more relaxing time can be found within the grounds of Lake Eola Park where you can enjoy over forty three acres of wonderful parkland which includes a boating lake for the more energetic.

However, there aren’t that many visitors who visit Orlando without a trip to one of the four main Disney theme parks or the equally impressive Universal studios; where a person’s age really doesn’t matter. Whatever you want from a vacation, Orlando can supply and you don’t have to work hard at finding it either. Next time you are thinking of spending time in the Orlando vacation resorts, try some of the other attractions, you won’t be disappointed.
