A Guide To Enjoying Denver Activities

If you’ve grown bored with your hometown, you must not live in the Mile High City. Colorado’s capital is overflowing with features and attractions. An exhaustive listing of Denver activities would fill multiple books, but this list contains a few highlights to pique the interest of a first-time visitor.

A Denver omelet is the perfect way to start your day. Ham, cheese, onions and peppers inside an egg blanket will fortify you for a day of sunny sightseeing. This city has on average 300 days of sunshine a year.

A stroll down the pedestrian mall on Sixteenth Street leads you right to the Capitol with its golden dome and thirteenth step, which is exactly one mile above sea level. It sits next to the Colorado History Museum, a great place to learn how the state was formed and about the gold miners who helped to form it.

Patrons of the art will not want to miss the Denver Performing Arts Complex. This architectural marvel houses ten separate halls for performances. There is something playing to appeal to everyone in either its opera house, concert hall, ballroom, or one of its seven theatres.

Maybe you are more interested in sports than art. That’s okay too, because the Mile High City has eight professional sports teams. The city is home to the NFL Broncos; the NBA Nuggets; the NHL Avalanche; the MLB Rockies; the MLS Rapids; the AFL Crush; the MLL Outlaws; and the NLL Mammoth.

Any one of the many restaurants at Larimer Square is sure to please even the most discerning palate. After lunch or before dinner, you can shop in the Victorian block’s boutiques and galleries. You won’t want to miss the Square’s stunning sunset views.

After the sun sets, if you’re not too weary from the day’s adventures, warm up your vocal chords and find your way to the Wild Ivories Dueling Piano Saloon. This huge dueling piano bar may just be the most fun extravaganza in town and customers are part of the show. A nightcap of comedy and sing-a-long merrymaking will have you chuckling and whistling a merry tune all the way back to your hotel.

Boredom in the Mile High City is almost an impossibility. For those who just want to relax, the city has more parks and more beer brewed than any other American city. No matter what your interests are, there is a wealth of Denver activities from which to choose, not the least of which is seeing how money is created at the Treasury Department’s Mint.
